July will ramp up quickly at Post Modern Sound with post on the first episodes in season one of Chesapeake Shores. Based on Sherryl Woods’ novels, Chesapeake Shores is a multi-generational family drama starring Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives), Meghan Ory (Once Upon A Time), Treat Williams (Everwood) and Diane Ladd (Wild At Heart).
MOSTLY GHOSTLY 3: ONE NIGHT IN DOOM HOUSE
One Night In Doom House is the third installment in the Mostly Ghostly movie series based on the books by R.L. Stein. The plot revolves around Max, an 11-year-old boy who has the power to see ghosts, who is trying to help two ghosts named Nicky and Tara to find their parents. The ghosts make Max a deal: If he can help them find out how they died and what happened to their parents, they'll help make his life better. In Doom House, Max takes some objects from a haunted house to help his ghost friends but he upsets spirits in the process. Ron Oliver directed this teenage caper. Don Mann was sound designer on the busy project while Peter Allen provided a masterful score. Greg Stewart and Angelo Nicoloyannis brought it all together on the mix stage.

WHAT A YEAR!
What a year it has been at Post Modern Sound! Since the last news update we have been very busy with too many highlights to detail here. The more favorable tax credits and the currency exchange have helped grow business and our pool of crew. An abundant fall and winter season will culminate in a fully booked month of January. We are feeling very positive for what 2016 will bring.
KILLING BIGFOOT: THE SERIES!
Killing Bigfoot is back in a big way with 6 new episodes. Gryphon Productions successfully sold the series based on the pilot that aired late last year. Producer Peter Puttkamer could undoubtedly package “The Making of Killing Bigfoot” based on all the adventures they had while filming the series in the swamps of Louisiana.
WELCOME BACK PARALLAX FILMS!
Our friends from White Rock will be gracing our studio again this season with a line-up of projects starting with an episode for CBC’s The Nature of Things. “The Eagles Next Door” examines urban eagles in the lower mainland and focuses on an active nest in White Rock. Spectacular imagery tells the competitive and sometimes tragic lives these raptors lead in our midst.
LILI & LOLA
This new web series from Big Bad Boo Studios is about the adventures of two sisters Lili (5) and Lola (3) who live in a small apartment in a big city. Along with Mama, Papa and their lazy cat, Kensington, they love to giggle, laugh and just be silly. Situated on a quiet street, their building is filled with interesting people from all over the world. Together, we celebrate cultural holidays like the Chinese New Year, Norooz and Diwali, introducing nuances of various cultures to our young audience. Each episode also contains a literacy and social/emotional lesson.
Initially Big Bad Boo will release the series in three languages: Persian, English and French.
MONSTERVILLE: THE CABINET OF SOULS
The first movie in a franchise of R.L. Stein Monsterville titles, The Cabinet of Souls tells the story of when Dr. Hysteria and his Hall of Horrors Halloween Show comes to Danville, USA. A local group of friends are terrified to discover that the price of admission will cost them their souls. Real life couple, Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan, star together in this Universal Home Entertainment release, which will come out on Halloween 2015.
MURDER SHE BAKED
Based on the New York Times bestselling series of books, "Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder" by Joanna Fluke, Hallmark Channel's Murder She Baked centres on Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney), shop owner of the Cookie Jar where much of the town’s gossip percolates along with the strong coffee. When a mysterious murder occurs, Hannah turns into a culinary detective and finds herself trying to solve the crime while getting caught in an unexpected romantic mystery of her own.
THE GOURMET DETECTIVE
The Gourmet Detective is part of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries original “Mystery Wheel Franchise.” It is the second franchise wheel following Garage Sale Mystery. Dylan Neal (Cedar Cove, Fifty Shades of Grey) is Executive Producer & star in the new franchise which is based on the series of books by Peter King. Neal’s real-life wife Becky Southwell will write the movies about the chef turned culinary sleuth. In The Gourmet Detective, a culinary whiz uses his mastery of food, drink and cooking to solve crimes of the culinary world. Whether it’s the theft of a valuable recipe or a suspicious murder in the middle of a five-star restaurant, his insight, skills and encyclopedic knowledge of all things edible always lead him to the culprit. Laura Mennell (Haven, Motive) stars alongside Neal in the first series installment. Front Street Pictures is producing, continuing its phenomenally successful track record with Hallmark.
Stephen Cheung, dialogue, and Jeff Jackman, sound design, will begin Post Modern’s work on the first Gourmet Detective movie in early February.
Welcome back Parallax Films! We are pleased to reunite with our long-time friends Ian Herring and Maija Leivo, principals of Parallax Films and co-producers of their new series, Bahama Blue. This breathtaking documentary series for Oasis and Discovery International features the aquatic and land creatures of the Bahamas. Don Mann will provide the sound design and Greg Stewart will mix.
IF THERE BE THORNS | SEEDS OF YESTERDAY
The Lifetime movie series based on VC Andrew’s bestselling novels continues with two more installments: If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday. Front Street Pictures produced both in quick succession. Post Modern recently wrapped the first mix and will continue with post on Seeds through to early February 2015.
The stories follow the tortured lives of siblings who had been kept captive in an attic by their demented mother and grandmother. Heather Graham reprises her role as the children’s mother.
THE EXORCISM OF MOLLY HARTLEY
We are pleased to welcome back 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment with the direct to video feature, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley. This sequel features Sarah Lind as Molly Hartley, who falls under the possession of an evil spirit and must be exorcised by a fallen priest before the devil consumes her completely. The Winnipeg shot film also stars Devon Sawa as Father John Barrow and Gina Holden as Dr. Laurie Hawthorne.
SURPRISED BY LOVE
Jeff Jackman and Stephen Cheung are respectively sound designer and dialogue editor on Surprised By Love, a Hallmark Entertainment upcoming release. Tim Conway stars alongside Hilarie Burton in this story of a young businesswoman who tries to convince her uptight parents to accept her current boyfriend and instead finds she is falling for an old high school flame.
THE CHRISTMAS SHEPHERD
The Christmas Shepherd is a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Original produced in partnership with Front Street Pictures. Jeff Jackman, sound designer, and Stephen Cheung, dialogue editor, are teamed up to work on this project which will appear this holiday season as part of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Most Wonderful Movies of Christmas.
In The Christmas Shepherd, Sally Browing (Teri Polo), a children’s book author and illustrator is devastated when her beloved German Shepherd, Buddy, runs away during a thunderstorm. Buddy miraculously ends up in Boston with Mark Green (Martin Cummins) and his teenage daughter. They are struggling to put their lives back together after losing his wife and her mother three years ago. Buddy wins their hearts and heals their souls just in time for the holidays. Sally’s journey to find Buddy eventually connects her to Mark and Emma, and everyone is given the best Christmas present possible, the gift of love.
GARAGE SALE MYSTERY: ALL THAT GLITTERS
Roger Morris, dialogue editor, and Greg Stewart, sound designer, have teamed up to work on Garage Sale Mystery: All That Glitters. Miguel Nunes and Gord Hillier will mix the project in early October. This is the second Garage Sale Mystery movie Front Street Pictures has produced for the Hallmark Channel. It will be followed by a third in the franchise later this fall.
Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin) has a gift for finding rare treasures hidden in garage sales that she can resell at her consignment store. But her keen eye for finding valuables also gets her involved in the criminal investigations that coincide with the second-hand sales she frequents.
In the series’ second installment, Jennifer's friend and self-storage facility owner, Martin (Michael Kopsa), turns up murdered. She is immediately pulled into the case as a key eyewitness. Eventually Jennifer and her business partner, Danielle (Sarah Strange), discover their new merchandise contains the sparkly evidence they needed all along to nail the surprising culprit. They must race to save another life while putting their own lives on the line.
EVERY THING WILL BE FINE
We were honored to host filmmaker, Wim Wenders (Pina, Buena Vista Social Club, Paris,Texas), when he joined us to record ADR for his new feature, Every Thing Will Be Fine. The talented ingénue, Lilah Fitzgerald (Seventh Son, In My Dreams), and the debonair veteran, Patrick Bauchau (The State of Things, The Rapture, The Music Teacher), came into Post Modern to loop for the film. Every Thing Will Be Fine is the story of Tomas (James Franco), a writer who accidentally causes the death of a child while driving and spends the next 12 years examining the effect of the tragedy on his life and that of Kate (Rachel McAdams), the child’s mother.
Members of our Foley team, artist Ian Mackie, assistant Bonnie Lambie, and recording engineer Smokey Senechal , collaborated to provide the Foley for HADWIN’S JUDGEMENT, a drama documentary produced in partnership by PASSION PICTURES (Searching for Sugarman), TRUE WEST FILMS (It’s All Gone Pete Tong) and the NATIONAL FILM BOARD. Based on John Vaillant’s award winning book, The Golden Spruce, this poignant film documents the story of Grant Hadwin, a pioneering forester turned eco-radical, in Haida Gwaii. Congratulations to Elizabeth Yake, co-producer and long time friend of Post Modern.

The editorial team of Christine McLeod, dialogue editor, and Craig George, sound designer, has just started work on FRONT STREET PICTURES’ ALONG CAME A NANNY for Hallmark Channel.
Mike Logan (Cameron Mathison) is a single, hard-working, no-nonsense police detective. His life is about to change as he’s called to investigate a series of robberies in an upscale part of town.
His job is to infiltrate the tony neighborhood as an undercover nanny. Mike finds himself bonding with the kids in his charge and begins to fall for another nanny. But as signs start pointing to the true identity of the robbery suspects, Mike’s new relationships are suddenly threatened.
FRONT STREET PICTURES is bringing a prolific number of movies through Post Modern in the coming months hot on the heels of wrapping THE HAUNTING HOUR season 4.

We’re excited that TWO 4 THE MONEY MEDIA is back at Post Modern with another Disney/MarVista project, PANTS ON FIRE.
PANTS ON FIRE is the story of teen Jack Parker (Bradley Steven Perry) who has been a liar all of his 15 years, Jack’s best friend Ryan (Joshua Ballard) and Mikey (Tyrel Jackson Williams) a nonexistent teen whom Jack makes up. Jack claims he is tutoring his imaginary friend, Mikey, as an excuse for being late, to avoid chores and homework and to create general mayhem. It’s a seemingly great plan until one day Mikey shows up in Jack’s life for real, as do all of his other lies, including his possessive girlfriend and a duo of alien body-snatchers.
